2007. November, the 10th “The Decadent Russian Magnum Dinner”
On November, the 10th the dinner party “The Decadent Russian Magnum Dinner” took place in restaurant-enoteca CASA DEL VINO. The event was organized by Moscow sommeliers Anton Panasenko and Vladimir Basov with the participation of Pavel Shvets and Aleksey Basov.
The aim of this annual gastronomical dinner is to share a specially reserved magnum-format bottle (1,5) with colleagues-experts, including those from other cities – in a word, with those who can understand and appreciate it.
As a rule, each participant has been looking for his Magnum all over the year, and usually selects the wine, that can surprise and please every colleague. There can’t be too many participants, for the mere volume of the Magnum bottle imposes considerable limitations on the number of guests (up to 15 people).
By tradition, introduced back in 2001, during the international Decadent Nordic Magnum dinner by its founders Lan Lystad (Norway) and Andreas Larsson(Sweden), a current world champion, a Black Tie dress code was accepted at the dinner. For the wines, made by the participants, are worth drinking elegantly.
The format of this event was adopted with kind permission and favoring by its founders. The event itself is aimed at facilitating informal communication of the experts. At the end of the evening The Best Wine of The Decadent Russian Magnum Dinner 2007 was found by common voting. Dmitriy Madestov, who presented this wine, received the main prize – a saber for opening Laguiole champagne bottles, with a gift inscription on it.
